Towards the end of last year the band performed here, in
the small room.
"That was a blinding night," says Luke beaming a
large smile, a more prominent reaction made by the fact that
he is wearing sunglasses and a hat. "That was when we
were doing our first tour by ourselves. We wanted to get out
there and see what it's like. We got a publishing deal first
with Universal publishers and they pushed us to get out and
get our feet wet."
Touring of course can be the test of any band.
"It encourages you to drink a lot more," says Luke.
"Everyday is a Saturday night and they give you all these
beers and bottles of vodka but we're not complaining though."
The temptation of a rider can be problematic. On the table
there's the large volume of alcohol already pointed out and
behind me there's a small fridge full as well. To compliment
there are some healthy snack foods available. I suggest about
taking all the beer and saving it for a big end of tour party.
"We could do but then we'd get bored," laughs Luke
tucking into a bag of sweets. "We're actually going to
start drinking again because we haven't really been drinking
for the last four days because we've been enjoying the whole
tour thing."
If the band hasn't been touring then they've been recording
with Ian Broudie at the production helm. How did they find
working with him?
"It's been a bit intense," says Grant. "It
was a bit crazy as we recorded in about five different studios.
It felt kind of weird."
Was this a chosen method to keep things fresh and keep the
band alert and on their toes? >>
