"We have a haggis
type meal," says Sigrun rather seriously, "liver pudding
in sheep stomach." They burst into laughter again. "It's
quite disgusting. Lamb is more of a national Icelandic meal,
it's much nicer."
Apparently there's two shops that supply the Icelandic with
their musical desires but only one "alternative'"
shop in Reykjavik that the girls would frequent. Perhaps with
their newfound fame the band could do an in store show? Both
girls laugh down the idea. "Its a little bit too small
for that," states Eliza.
Now it's never happened to me before but I've seen it on television.
I'm talking about asking someone to describe a moment and they
start laughing in stages as they tell it. Usually it ends in
"you should have been there". From the girl's faces
and their laughter in fact I wish I had. The question? Oh, do
you remember your first gig?
Sigrun claims "it was terrible", whilst Eliza states
"it was really funny". Then the laughing began but
in answer to the question Eliza was so nervous before they went
on in front of a six hundred festival audience she threatened
to kill the band if they made a mistake but she herself made
a mistake straight away.
Aged sixteen at the time it must have been a lot to take in?
"It was," starts Eliza she begins to laugh again,
"and we did a cover of 'Flower' by the Charlatans."
The two girls break into the bass introduction of the song.
Eliza continues, "people came up and talked to us afterwards.
They liked 'Flower but thought the rest of the songs were strange."
There's nothing strange about Bellatrix, honest, okay maybe
these girls laugh more than anyone else you're likely to meet
but they're not strange. The album 'It's All True' is out on
Fierce Panda.
