Sometimes as soon as bands have finished an album, they tour
with thoughts at the back of their minds about recording the
next album. By chance is Mishka thinking of her next album?
"I have now. This album has been out for a while. I didn't
immediately start thinking about the next one. Having an album
was already a big deal for me. I really focused on that. Now
that I've had some time to savour the songs I've got some
new ideas about a new approach."
Would that perhaps involve working with more Filipino artists?
"I would like to work with more Filipino artists, the
music community here is very small. It's very friendly and
about 90% of the time they will be very willing. There are
a lot of people who I would like to involve."
Well with her free time she could perhaps draw up a list?
"Free time," laughs Mishka gently. "I don't
get too much of that anymore."
A victim of her own success perhaps? Her band begin to tune
up, posing as a gentle hint to wrap things up. I suppose that
winning the award had brought her more fame?
"Well I'm getting noticed in public more than I expected
to," admits Mishka again smiling. "It's harder to
get noticed when you play jazz," she adds laughing.
