"After we did the festival, Music
week called us '1 of the top 10 bands'. Suddenly we were in
Music Week next to Franz Ferdinand. We were like 'What the
fuck are we like? Out of all these hundreds of bands from
all over the world'. Suddenly it was a buzz to see some recognition
for what we were doing that early on, when we'd only just
translated our kinda rap sound into a live band, like half
a year earlier."
JG mentioned before about the development process. Did getting
this sound take a lot of trial and error?
"I remember when Justin gave me one of his first backing
tracks it was about 9-11. Since then we've progressed more
on the crazy, naughty, dirty punk rock side but a lot of those
earlier tracks are wicked hip hop numbers, that I think we'll
probably play around with as B sides or albums and make them
more naughtier and sexier."
Having never made a proper recording before, JG explains that
the band is looking forward to recording the album and maybe
working again with producer Damian Taylor, who worked on 'Black
Line Ninja'.
"Damian's just programmed the last
Prodigy record. He produced Bjork and UNKLE as well. We worked
with him and we're just looking at whether we can actually
do this record with him. Otherwise we'll be doing some sessions
to choose certain engineers and see how the other relationships
go."
JG writes the music, "but we collaborate
on the development of tunes and things like that," he
explains.
"Lyrically we're all inspired by different
things, so that comes out on different tracks," adds
Georgia. >>
