Fans Of Kate
"It was a couple of months before the end of uni," begins Jamie. "I think everyone who leaves university gets panic attacks. You've been in education since you were five. All of a sudden you're twenty one and you're thinking about what to do with your life. At the time we had a different singer and we sat down and realised that it was something that we wanted to do in our lives. We realised that we had something special and could work at it really hard."

The band are set to release their debut single 'I don't Know What To Do With My Hands' for Moshi Moshi. Like Bloc Party, who released a single on High Wycombe's Denial records, before their debut 'Banquet' for Moshi Moshi, Fans Of Kate released a single on another label, Headwrecker. The song 'Tape 23' charted mid eighties.

"We were their first proper radio release," admits Jamie. "They are a new label. So it was a new thing for us and for them. Both the people running it have full-time jobs and did the label in their spare time. it was really nice to work with them, they are really good people."

Steve expands on how it felt to work with them. "It was perfect for us at the time because we learnt together. It was like a little family for about six months, they talked us through a lot of things and we learnt very quickly."

There's that learning thing again. Having heard the band in the studio and live a couple of times and liking 'Tape 23' an offer was agreed through Abbi.

Jamie provides a more detailed explanation for their decision. "We were given the chance to go with them," We looked at the label by the bands they had put out, Bloc Paty, New Rhodes. It's a really 'now' label. They're doing really well at the moment. It seemed obvious to take it when it was offered."

Before the band were touring for preparation of the single they joined Electric Six on tour for gigs in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Leeds & Newcastle. >>
