Did they learn anything
from the band?
"I think we did really well," starts Steve. "It
was literally a crash course in rock. By the end of it we really
got our heads round it. Electric Six even had kids crowd surfing
and were making high fives with members of the audience, it
was brilliant."
"It was brilliant fun," champions Jamie. "They
were really good gigs, it was great playing in front of their
crowd. Which is really a mixture of people, they don't have
one set of fans."
At the first gig everyone was a bit nervous," admits Jamie.
"When you come from the Barfly stage which is about 10ft
wide to being on the Glasgow Barrowlands which about 40ft wide
your about 5-6 metres away from the nearest band member. You
lose the direct contact. At the Barfly you can feel the heat
with each other. Once you take it that far apart it is a really
weird experience. When you watch the main support, Hoggboy and
what they did and then watch what Electric Six did, you learn
about the movement and the interaction. The main thing was looking
at the audience. If you face away from the audience at a place
like that the audience can turn away and get disinterested.
It was literally learning to play guitar whilst not looking
at it. It's like the pressure of playing on a big stage is a
lot but there's also the fact that there is an audience there
to enjoy themselves."
The future looks good for the lads. The summer
should see a five track EP released, produced by Robert Miles
of 'Children' fame. Robert remixed 'Tape 23' and the result
was a far cry away from the house remix they were expecting.
Apparently, "he's more rock now". Finally, about the
bands name.
Is Kate a porn star?
"There probably is a porn star called Kate but this Kate
was not. Although she was fit," says Jamie smiling. >> |
