We Have Band
We venture into Harrow to meet Darren, Thomas and Deborah. The latter two, husband and wife, invited former work colleague Darren one night to join their band. We ask some questions, they provide some answers before their gig at the Trinity Bar.

By their own account being in a band wasn't going to happen. It certainly wasn't an accident but there were never expectations for the things that have happened. And, before you say it, it wasn't a case of "we have band, now let's do something with it".

"We all met and worked at the same place," explains the band's bassist-programmer and co-vocalist Thomas. "During various stages of redundancy we decided to jump ship and start a band."

As fellow vocalist and percussionist Darren explains, "After a couple of band practices it sort of made sense. We made some music and there certainly wasn't any intention to do anything particular."

“There was just an emotional high," adds Thomas.

"And there something nice going on," admits a smiling Darren.

The band's development had a strong natural progression.

"I think it sought of began to feed itself. I know it sounds ridiculous but I don't think we've ever really wanted to sound like anything. I don't think we even really thought about doing live shows or gigging," explains Darren.

He continues and tells me that they "made one song". From that things began to form though there weren't any greater outside influences shaping the threesome who claim, on their Myspace, that they sound like "elephants".

"Of course there's our own personalities and being around each other," states Deborah, the band's remaining vocalist and percussionist.

"And the music we listen to," declares Thomas. "We're like squirrels eating from a feeder. You take one nut and another falls down." >>
