Most of it was
boring, most people just went back to the hotel. We had a couple
of great parties. Though not on the bus. The NME bus is something
to put the press in and that came half way through the tour.
An NME guy that interviewed us before we went on was going 'you
know this is going be a party, rock and roll can you dig it
up and make it sound'. This attitude about rock stars they're
the ones that create it. It's lies."
"You know that when we appeared on the NME show on television
to pick up our award they edited it out," says Master D.
Pandit G continues "I went up there and said "The
reward for Satpal Ram, 12 years in prison, no more political
prisoners." They edited it out, everyone else got their
awards shown on television. They rang up the following Monday
and said "We're sorry, the tape got put aside somewhere."
"This is the world syndication," starts Chandrasonic."People
are really frightened. You say anything for real in people's
leisure time that when the goods come out. It's all right if
it's in Parliament or midnight question time that no one watches.
You try putting it in people's leisure time, people get very
edgy. We live now in a very censored country. They (people on
Channel 4's NME Brat TV show presumably - Ed) can say "fuck",
they can say "bitch", they can say "sluts",
they can say all that but say "This is for Satpal Ram,
no more political prisoners" that's too much!"
To change the mood and for a little light entertainment we ask
if ADF were to appear on television in a cartoon which would
it be?
Mass excitement overwhelms all the band members, everyone keeps
on laughing and Scooby Doo becomes the selected cartoon. Everyone
continues to laugh as they announce which band member will be
which character. The result Sun-J is Scooby, Master D would
be Scrappy and the manager Bobby would be the episodes' villain.
As the interview concluded I asked to take some pictures. "Yeah,"
replies Dr Das but there's not any here."
